STORM NEVER CAME …
Trail Conditions: Poor
We were waiting to write this report until after the “Big Storms” came through, but both storms missed us. We eneded up getting 4 inches of good snow right before Christmas and only about an inch since then. Iron County did open up some of their trails yesterday and Vilas County will be opening their trails tomorrow morning. Both areas will have trail closures that go over lakes or through swamps. We did some riding yesterday and you can get around, in fact we saw several other snowmobiles on the trails, but the conditions are thin! Cold weather is in the forecast and being in the snow belt we are always just one winds gust from getting serious lake effect. If you do come up this week we have a Prime and Shrimp Dinner for New Year’s Eve (along with our full menu) and we have a really fun Classic Rock Band
ALL I WANT FOR CHRISTMAS IS SNOW …
Trail Conditions: Closed
Warm tempertures today, BUT after today we see the temperatures drop and the change in forecast calls for snow 4 out of the next 6 days. We are not trying to give everyone false hope, but from what we are seeing there is a chance that we could be riding in Northern Wisconsin and/or the UP in the next week. Our advice is wait and see where the snow goes and who gets what. No need to cancel your rooms at the hotel just yet, if the trails aren’t open then there is no cancellation fees. If the trails open AND we are out riding then the policy for the winter is 48 hours. FYI–Delta Ratz a Milwaukee based Classic Rock Band will be the entertainment for New Year’s Eve inside the GREAT NORTHERN HOTEL, snow or no snow!
NOT ENOUGH SNOW…
Trail Conditions: Closed
The first Trail Report of the season and unfortunately we don’t have good news. 3-4” of fresh snow on the ground this week, but nothing new coming in the forecast before Christmas….of course that could change. The forecast beyond Christmas is uncertain, but at this point good riding is a few weeks away (hopefully). If we get some Lake Effect in the next week they could open some trails, but the lakes and swamps are going to be the hang up. The party will still be going on at the Great Northern and all around Mercer for the week between Christmas and New Year’s, but at this point we are still suggesting you wait and see for trail riding. No need to cancel your rooms at the hotel just yet, if the trails aren’t open then there is no cancellation fees. If the trails open and we are out riding then the policy for the winter is 48 hours. FYI–Delta Ratz a Milwaukee based Classic Rock Band will be the entertainment for New Year’s Eve, snow or no snow!
